Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body burns just to stay alive — breathing, circulating blood, repairing cells — before you've taken a single step. It's the foundation every calorie or diet plan should start from.
Enter your age, height, and weight to get your BMR using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula, the most accurate widely-used equation for women.
How It Works | рдХैрд╕े рдХाрдо рдХрд░рддा рд╣ै
We use the Mifflin-St Jeor formula for women: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age − 161. This is your calorie floor — before any activity is added.

What's the difference between BMR and TDEE?
BMR is calories burned at complete rest. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) adds your activity level on top of BMR — that's the number you'd actually use for weight goals. Use our TDEE calculator for that.
Can I eat below my BMR to lose weight faster?
It's not recommended. Eating below BMR for long periods can disrupt hormones, energy, and metabolism, and often backfires with rebound weight gain.
Does thyroid function affect BMR?
Yes, significantly. An underactive thyroid lowers BMR, while an overactive thyroid raises it. If your real-world calorie needs feel very different from this estimate, it's worth checking your thyroid.
Does muscle mass change my BMR?
Yes — muscle burns more calories at rest than fat, so two women with the same height/weight but different muscle mass can have different actual BMRs than this formula estimates.
